Maitsev Gruusia Restaurant

01
Overview
Maitsev Gruusia is a Georgian restaurant in Tallinn with a distinct identity — bold flavours, warm hospitality, and a sense of occasion. The brief was clear: build a platform that doesn't just sell food, but transports the customer into the world of the restaurant before they've even placed an order. We delivered a full e-commerce platform with a custom CMS, Montonio payment integration, and a front-end built around atmosphere — ambient background music, a cinematic loading screen, parallax effects, and GSAP micro-interactions that make every scroll feel intentional.
02
Development
Georgian cuisine has a soul that generic restaurant templates simply can't capture. We started by immersing ourselves in the brand — studying the restaurant's identity, its food, its audience, and the feeling it wanted to evoke. From there, every technical decision was made in service of that atmosphere. The loading screen became a stage entrance. The background music sets a mood before the menu even loads. Parallax layers create depth that pulls the user in. On the back end, we built a custom CMS tailored to the restaurant's workflow — managing menu items, promotions, and categories without needing a developer. Montonio handles all payments with full support for Estonian bank links. Telegram and email notifications fire the moment an order is placed, keeping the team in control without being tied to a dashboard.
03
Georgia Starts at the Loading Screen
Most restaurant websites start with a menu. Maitsev Gruusia starts with an experience. Before a single dish appears, visitors are greeted by a cinematic loading screen and the warm sounds of Georgian music playing softly in the background. It's a deliberate choice — the first few seconds set an expectation of quality and authenticity that carries through the entire ordering journey. GSAP animations respond to scroll and interaction, creating a sense of presence that static sites simply cannot replicate. By the time a customer reaches the menu, they're already immersed.

04
From Browse to Order in Under Two Minutes
Atmosphere only takes you so far — the ordering experience has to deliver. We engineered a checkout flow that removes every point of friction: intuitive category navigation, fast search, and a cart that handles food and drinks together in a single order. Montonio processes all payments natively — Swedbank, SEB, LHV, Luminor, Coop, and international cards. Order confirmations reach the customer by email instantly. The kitchen and front-of-house team get a Telegram ping the moment a new order arrives. No missed orders, no delays, no confusion.
05
A CMS Built for Restaurateurs, Not Developers
Menu management in a restaurant moves fast — dishes go on and off, prices change with the season, specials rotate weekly. We built a CMS that keeps up with that pace without requiring technical knowledge. The interface is clean and fast: add a dish, set a price, assign a category, upload a photo, publish. That's it. Promotions can be scheduled in advance. Categories can be reorganised with drag and drop. The platform handles the complexity; the team handles the cooking.

The Numbers Behind the Atmosphere
Good design that doesn't perform is just decoration. Maitsev Gruusia delivered on both fronts. Online orders grew by 120% after launch. Conversion rate improved by 28%. And the average session time — 5 minutes and 40 seconds — is nearly three times the restaurant industry average. People aren't just visiting to order. They're spending time with the brand. The site scores 92/100 on Google PageSpeed, proving that visual richness and technical performance aren't mutually exclusive when the foundation is built right.
